For our latest excursion we drove to the village of Koumeika, to make a tour in the olive oil factory of the Markou family. During this tour you will hear all about the special olive pressing technique the family uses and the different olives that are being pressed for the extra virgin olive oil the factory makes. After the tour we got to taste a wide range of different oils and then we drove to Ormos Marathokambos for lunch. A nice idea for a (half) day trip from Pythagorio!
Good Friday is a mournful day that commemorates the Passion of Christ in all of Greece. From the early morning hours in all the Greek churches, the Epitaph, decorated with flowers, is ready to receive the body of Jesus. The icon of Christ is taken off the cross in churches and is then wrapped in linen and placed in a great casket covered in flowers symbolizing the tomb of Christ. People gather at the graves of their loved ones on the cemetery to honor the dead. At the end of

No talk, just drive! Enjoy the #Samos landscapes and the villages we pass on our roadtrip in the winter sun. To be honest, our roadtrip started off as a hunt for some snow on the mountains. Unfortunately for our boys, we found out most of the snow was already gone. Nevertheless, we had a nice afternoon driving from #Pythagorio through #Chora, #Koumaradei and #Pyrgos towards Spatharei. The view from the road between #Spatharei and #Pagondas towards the snow-capped Kerkis mount
Join us on our roadtrip from Pythagorio to the beautiful location of the Zoodochos Pigi Monastery. We drive through Paleokastro, past the Monastery of Agia Zoni and cross the plain of Vlamari after which we follow the road up to Zoodochos Pigi. What a spectacular view this place has! We made a walk in the wonderful forest-like area behind the Monastery, but unfortunately this can not be shown as it belongs to the military, which means no photos and videos are allowed there.
Just outside Mytilini there is an unpaved road that leads all the way north to Kokkari. Giving our dogs the opportunity to explore this area they had never seen before, we also had a chance to enjoy the beautiful nature along the road. We ended up just outside of Kokkari on the asphalt road and decided to return to Pythagorio from the country road, leading us back to Mytilini under a colorful sunset. Come along on our afternoon roundtrip on beautiful Samos! Please feel free t

Unexpectedly, we had the opportunity to make this short but very special video of the Mediterranean chameleon this morning! Enjoying the beautiful views towards the sea and the other islands in the distance, we arrive in Platanos. We stroll around the village and find out that we have to drive through these very narrow streets in order t
